I don't know, I've wasted a few hours on instas, not copied from anyone, and it's annoying as heck. They are just a game mechanics exploit, anyway - get rid of them and work out something else that is an intended game mechanism.

Yes, but skills go with you, where the upgraded ship would have intrinsic value (eg you could sell it). I like the idea of being able to 'refit' a ship, for cost, with more basic engines/armor/shields/# targets/target range, etc.
